Making Matcha tea is a tad more complicated than simply dipping a tea bag into a hot cup of water. But the extra effort is worth it when you taste it.
And another great thing about Matcha is that there isn’t just one way to make yourself a cup (or a bowl) of it. Here’s how to make Matcha tea as a satisfying traditional drink as well as a few tasty eats.
1. Ceremonial Matcha
There are two main types of Matcha powder—culinary grade and ceremonial grade—with the latter being the highest quality and most common to drink. For centuries, ceremonial Matcha is the tea that’s been used in traditional Japanese tea ceremonies.
Once you have the right tools, you begin making this delightful tea by putting 1 tsp. of ceremonial grade Matcha into your bowl. Next, pour 1 oz. of hot water into the bowl, and mix the water and Matcha powder together using the bamboo whisk. Then, add another 1 oz. of hot water into the bowl and mix again.
2. Berry Matcha Smoothie Bowl
Spring is in full bloom, and our favorite berries are finally in season. So on a hot day when you’re craving a fresh berry treat, you’ve got to make this Berry Matcha Smoothie Bowl recipe.
All you need is a ½ cup of ice, 2 tsp. of Matcha powder, a ½ cup of berries and ¾ cup of almond milk. Combine all of your ingredients in a blender, blend until smooth and then pour out into a bowl. 3. Eggplant and Rice Entree
