Why Make a Change?

Our old packaging did a decent job of distinguishing our products, but it didn't represent our traditional Japanese roots as strongly as we would have liked. We also worried that the powder on the front would be less approachable for those new to matcha who might not know what to do with that.

What We Want to Convey?

Japanese Tradition

Ujido was born in Kyoto out of nearly 200 years of growing and selling matcha in Uji. We are steeped in tea tradition with deep roots in Japan.

Highest Quality

It's what you have come to know us for. We source from central Japan, the premier area for quality matcha. We never use tea from any other country.

Best Flavor

Our matcha uses mainly first and second harvests, grown under shade for the sweetest, mildest, and best tasting matcha available anywhere.

Japanese Kanji

You will see new stamps that include Japanese kanji characters. These reflect our history and connection to Japanese history and culture. 

 

We have also updated our logo and wordmark to include elements of hand-drawn kanji calligraphy.  It is who we are.
