How Matcha’s Caffeine Differs
Besides looking and tasting different than coffee and other teas, the caffeine used in matcha also works differently. It works harmoniously with all the other amazing ingredients in matcha, such as antioxidants, catechins, EGCG, L-Theanine, amino acids, fiber, chlorophyll, and phytonutrients. When you put all these together, matcha drinkers receive the remarkable ability to focus and be productive for several hours.
This effect is great because unlike with coffee or energy drink energy bursts, there’s no jittery feeling nor is there an “afternoon crash” like many of these latter drinkers experience since matcha’s caffeine molecules are released over a period of time instead of all at once.
